I Will Not Be Stopped, Slowed Down, Or Twarted

I went to a fireside tonight where Sheri Dew spoke. She was spectacular. I found it interesting that the girl who said the prayer asked that we all hear what we need to hear and that not only did that phrase stick out to me but it was fulfilled. I very much heard what I needed to hear. I can't imagine what more could be said that would be more applicable. *Side note: I have a theory that Satan and his hosts are sabotaging this blog. Just tonight I've had my computer shut down a few times, trouble with the internet connection, things like that. Guess that means that I have something worth saying. And that is this, I may not have a perfect knowledge of who I am right now, but I will soon come to that knowledge, and once I do, the world better look out.

"If I understood my individual worth and my relationship with Heavenly Father, I could overcome any challenge." This phrase has been recurring in my mind for the past week or two now. It again popped into my head during the fireside and I felt that everything after that point tied into that concept. Sister Dew talked about the potential we have as sister in this church. It being a Relief Society fireside, naturally we opened with the song As Sisters in Zion. Verse four reads,
"How vast is our purpose, how broad is our mission,
If we but fulfill it in spirit and deed.
Oh, naught but the Spirit’s divinest tuition
Can give us the wisdom to truly succeed."

I've sang this song who knows how many times but I guess I kind of just realized tonight what it was saying. We have a purpose here on this earth. A reason we have been sent here and nothing but the 'Spirit's divinest tuition' will equip us with the means to succeed. We have great potential. I loved what Sister Dew said about us as women in this day. She kept saying that we must have really proven ourselves in the pre-mortal if we were saved to come to earth at this time. I thought that was really interesting. I don't know exactly what happened up there but I must have done something right if God was willing to put me on the earth now. We know the outcome. Satan does not win. He cannot win. Christ wins, but why would he risk it by putting His taking the most valuable people out the game in the beginning? He wouldn't. He has save the elite for the last days, to bring others unto Christ and to build His kingdom.

How Do I know If This Is My Own Thought, Or If God Is Trying To Speak To Me?

So I think my theory about Satan sabotaging my blog was right. The screen cracked on the laptop I had been using and I have not since been able to get to a computer. I don't know exactly what I need to do in order to achieve the goal I have for this blog or what I need to post on here but I feel like it's pretty important. Even if my words don't help someone else, I know the things I am doing to come closer to an understanding of my worth and my god is important for me at this time in my life. And I feel like since I stopped writing I've kind of taken a step or two backwards. I didn't get to finish my last post because of the computer problems I faced but I decided to leave it as it was. However, there is so much more that I gained from Sister Dew's talk and I would like to continue to talk about just a bit. I came away from that fireside feeling so empowered and full of potential. She talked about the power of prayer and how we can ask God to teach us how to ...

Repentance

I was reading in my scriptures today in 3 Nephi 13. And I came across a thought that I felt the need to write down. Verse 24 reads, " No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon." As I read that I realized how true that had been in my own life. Something I like to do in my spare time is to go slacklining. If you've never heard of it before it's kind of like tight rope walking. You string a line of rope between two trees and try to walk across it. It's a lot more fun than it sounds because when you get good you can do tricks and things on it. But this is just something I really like to do. I've gotten pretty good at it and I can walk the whole line without having help, I can walk backwards and I can even run and jump up onto it. But even the best people at it can lose their balance or even fall off. When you fall you can either fall to ...

Nothingness vs. Worth

I was blessed with some very beautiful lessons at church today that tied together the thoughts and themes from my recent scripture studies and I thought I should share. Do with it what you will but I hope that as you read this post, the Spirit whispers hope and love to your heart. An analogy was given at church today that sort of perfectly portrays our relationship with God. Think back to when you were little, in the car, going to Grandma's house. Did your dad ever let you sit on his lap and "drive"? I don't think I've ever been in that situation but you can see the visual, right? Even though we are given the illusion that we're driving--I mean, we're at the wheel and we're told we're doing the driving but, we have a pretty limited idea of what we're doing. It's our dad in this situation that is really the one calling the shots. He is managing the speed and the turns. Even more than operating the vehicle, we may have known we were going ...
