Trials Spelled Wrong is Trails Which I Guess Both Get You Somewhere in Life...

So this last little part of my life has been really good. Not because everything is going right--it's not--but because even in my trials, in my struggles, and challenges, I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father who can and will provide in my time of need. So far He has. When I put my trust in Him to help me with one trial and He was there for me, my testimony grew. I now know that no matter what the trial, He is there for me, He is mindful of me, He wants me to be happy and successful, and He will provide a way for me to overcome those trials in a way and at a time that in His plan will be most beneficial.

Keeping that in mind, at the same time I am a bit discouraged as well because I know I still have trials I'm struggling with and have been for a long time. It's frustrating for me because if I know God helps us through our trials, why have I had these problems for so long. It's been said that "no man can serve two masters." That being true, why can't I overcome? I want so much to be on the right path and to follow the Lord. If that really is what I want then why do I still knowingly sin or allow trials to come upon me? Well because I'm human and not perfect. But through the Atonement of Christ I can always repent. That has been on my mind a lot recently. Repentance and forgiveness. Acknowledging you've done something wrong is the first step to repentance. I feel like maybe I haven't fully gone through that process with some things. There's a part of me that isn't ready to admit the things I've done but there's a bigger part of me that is so overwhelmingly done dealing with these trials. I'm ready not have them be a part of my life anymore. We had a great lesson on Sunday about change. About how in order to change we have to give up part of yourself and become anew. I want to change and I want to get rid of the part of me that is not in keeping with the spirit. I want to put off my natural man, and while I know that is not something that will happen right away or even fully, I can work towards that goal and I can be better.

How Do I know If This Is My Own Thought, Or If God Is Trying To Speak To Me?

So I think my theory about Satan sabotaging my blog was right. The screen cracked on the laptop I had been using and I have not since been able to get to a computer. I don't know exactly what I need to do in order to achieve the goal I have for this blog or what I need to post on here but I feel like it's pretty important. Even if my words don't help someone else, I know the things I am doing to come closer to an understanding of my worth and my god is important for me at this time in my life. And I feel like since I stopped writing I've kind of taken a step or two backwards. I didn't get to finish my last post because of the computer problems I faced but I decided to leave it as it was. However, there is so much more that I gained from Sister Dew's talk and I would like to continue to talk about just a bit. I came away from that fireside feeling so empowered and full of potential. She talked about the power of prayer and how we can ask God to teach us how to ...

Repentance

I was reading in my scriptures today in 3 Nephi 13. And I came across a thought that I felt the need to write down. Verse 24 reads, " No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon." As I read that I realized how true that had been in my own life. Something I like to do in my spare time is to go slacklining. If you've never heard of it before it's kind of like tight rope walking. You string a line of rope between two trees and try to walk across it. It's a lot more fun than it sounds because when you get good you can do tricks and things on it. But this is just something I really like to do. I've gotten pretty good at it and I can walk the whole line without having help, I can walk backwards and I can even run and jump up onto it. But even the best people at it can lose their balance or even fall off. When you fall you can either fall to ...

Nothingness vs. Worth

I was blessed with some very beautiful lessons at church today that tied together the thoughts and themes from my recent scripture studies and I thought I should share. Do with it what you will but I hope that as you read this post, the Spirit whispers hope and love to your heart. An analogy was given at church today that sort of perfectly portrays our relationship with God. Think back to when you were little, in the car, going to Grandma's house. Did your dad ever let you sit on his lap and "drive"? I don't think I've ever been in that situation but you can see the visual, right? Even though we are given the illusion that we're driving--I mean, we're at the wheel and we're told we're doing the driving but, we have a pretty limited idea of what we're doing. It's our dad in this situation that is really the one calling the shots. He is managing the speed and the turns. Even more than operating the vehicle, we may have known we were going ...
